Rafael Serrano focuses on Environmental and Data Protection, as well as focusing within the Energy & Natural Resources and TMT industries.

In the Environmental area, his work includes obtaining permits, preparing preventive due diligence and representing clients in administrative and judicial proceedings.

In the Natural Resources industry, Mr. Serrano has focused his practice in the Mining and Oil  sectors, advising his clients in compliance with the specific environmental and related regulations. He TMT industry and heads the ​​Data Protection department, with special emphasis on the protection of personal data, electronic commerce and electronic and IT contracts.

In addition to working for CorralRosales, Rafael is a tenured professor at the Universidad de las Américas, where he teaches New Technologies Law, Environmental Law and Real Rights Law, and is an active member of international organizations engaged in technology and data protection such as Iteachlaw and the International Association of Privacy Professionals. He is Vice President of the Ecuadorian Association for Data Protection (AEPd).

Mr. Serrano participates actively in forums and congresses on data protection issues in different chambers and organizations in Ecuador. He has published, both locally and internationally, articles on the rights of nature, strict liability in environmental matters and data protection in Ecuador. Rafael is a founding member of the “Enseña Ecuador” foundation, an NGO dedicated to the development of education in Ecuador.

He is a specialist in Environmental Law and New Technologies Law and has attended several graduate courses in universities abroad, including courses in Damages Law, Banking and Financial Law and Administrative Law.
