Mr. Uribe focuses on tax controversy and advises both for corporate clients facing complex business problems and for individual taxpayers in the telecommunications, financial services and mining sectors of industry.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Uribe served as Deputy Chair of the Mexican Tax Ombudsman Agency (Prodecon). Earlier in his career, he acted as a litigant attorney for the Mexican Tax Administration and as Senior Law Clerk in the Federal Tax Court.
Mr. Uribe is an expert in handling alternative means of dispute resolution and believes that mediation in tax matters, especially in the context of an audit, is the ideal mechanism to solve highly complex disputes. He assists clients in highly complex transactional, regulatory and strategic litigation matters in various sectors such as telecommunications, retail, financial services and mining.
He is currently working as an advisor to the European Union on a project to design a new tax dispute resolution system in a country located in the Caucasus region of Eurasia and he is member of the United Nations Subcommittee on Dispute Avoidance and Resolution of the Committee of Experts on International Cooperation in Tax Matters.
